Fallout 4 has an interesting bug — but of course it does, because, well, it’s a Bethesda game. When restarting the game after playing it once, you can’t move once you get out of the cryochamber. You can’t: no input, on PC or console, will move your character or do anything at all.
Why is this bug so annoying?
Because after the cryochamber, you can’t even save and restore to try to fix the glitch. The last save point is in your house, before you even got to Vault 111. So when you first encounter this bug, you go back to your last save, and have to run to Vault 111, and then sloooowly traverse it with the doctor, soothe your baby, pick up your vault suit, etc — only to discover that yes, it happens again.
So how do you fix it?
You have to shut down your console and restart the game entirely. If you’re on PC, you need to shut the game down and try again — though there’s no guarantee this will work the first time. On the console, such as the PS4, simply exiting out of the game and going back into it won’t work, because the PS4 keeps the game in a state close to hibernation when you’re in other applications. And you may need to do this a couple of times — and no, you won’t know whether or not you fixed it without slooooowly walking through Vault 111 again.
It’s not known why this game affects some players instead of others. It is known that it’s extremely. irritating.
